The roaring twenties

Little or no change
Employment: 24% more of women in 1929 made their own money compare to in 1920
Women were paid less than men as they were considered cheaper...
Political: women were given the right to vote but their were not a lot of potential candidates running for elections

Freedom + status: they could divorce easily as they were now independent - they made their own money and had their own jobs. in 1929 their were 200,000 divorces. although they still had the reputation of being housewives.
Political: Women were allowed to vote. They pressured the government into giving them the ability. they were more equal to men in this way.
Work: During the war women took over large responsibilities. but when the war was over, they did not want to switch back to housewives.
Women became qualified for superior jobs and stayed within the are of their choosing. This was a big step -- next to men they were still inferior and got paid less although it was a big difference to them.
Behaviour: changed as they had been more independent during the war; where they took over men jobs - they had more confidence in other areas.
They drove alone, went on dates alone etc.
Clothing: As they had confidence they started wearing 'inappropriate; clothing: cleavage, knee length etc. They were called flappers. they would smoke and dance the 'Charleston' a new fast-paced dance. The older generation was disgusted
