Emílio Garrastazu Médici (1905-1985), took power during the end of 1969 until 1984 being the first president in the dictatorship to rule for the full five years. He is regarded as the most violent president as his rule was famous for political repression, exile, muder, inprisonment, kidnappings and censorship. Also, Médici was responsible for an unexpected growth in the country's GDP and for patriotic propaganda.
