        While hunting or snaring smaller mammals is a better bet than large mammals, it will still be one of your least-rewarding and most time consuming attempts to eat.
    - - Turkey, deer, etc.
        
        We are more likely to see these creatures, but less likely to be able to catch and kill them. Very few snares will be able to successfully catch them, meaning that actively hunting them is our best bet. However, even if you are able to kill one, odds are a lot of it, maybe most of it will go to waste. Ultimately, we are probably better off not putting our energy into hunting them.
  - - - Foraging for bird eggs can be a good way to supplement your diet. While it is lower-impact than hunting for live animals, it is still high impact, and should be reserved for invasive species.
  - - - You are better off using nets or fish traps rather than a classic 'rod and reel' to catch fish.

  - - - There are a few species to avoid - leave the brightly colored ones alone!

      - Berries are commonly the most poisonous part of a plant, be careful.

        If you are in a truly serious situation, don't worry about your impact as much; over picking, hunting, etc

        Don't worry about preserving the environment. Do what you need to do to survive.
  - - - Don't destroy everything in your path. Don't cut down trees or branches or anything that you don't absolutely have to.
    - - If you are just out in the woods practicing, don't take more than you need. You should still practice searching for edible mushrooms, pulling roots, etc, but only take a bit. Preserve the environment.
