One New York school district (Long Beach) wanted to test something, so they decreased the usual levels of homework. Instead of homework, the students are asked to WRaP (wonder, read, and play). Kids at this program got to learn about things they were interested in, and it proves that they clearly want to learn, but they just don't want to forcefully learn. Unfortunately, overloads of homework just takes time out of potential learning, relaxation, rest, and/or breaks.
