Inflammatory Conditions of the Eye (Uveitis)
Definition
It is an inflammation of the middle layer of the eye (uvea).
Signs and symptoms
Eye redness
Blurred Vision
Swelling
Sensitivity to Light
Causes
Eye injuries or surgery
An infection
An inflammatory disorder such as Crohn’s disease
Risk factors
Have a specific genetic alternation
Develop a sexually transmitted infection

Pathophysiology
Uveitis is narrow-defined inflammation of the uvea, also clinically include all inflammatory conditions in the eye. Uveitis may occur as a consequence of various causes and background such as autoimmune diseases, infections and hematopoietic malignancy.
Medical management
Corticosteroids and immunosuppressant are used.
Surgical management
Vitrectomy
Nursing management
Administer eye drops especially corticosteroids and pupil dilators to reduce inflammation and pain.
