Policy for Inclussion of Learning Support Students

Call in another teacher to observe
Discuss what you both see
Make arrangements to meet with teachers and admin.

Meeting with Admin and Teachers
Congregate to discuss what you have observed.
What can the student accomplish already/where is his/her level?
Collect work you have done with the student so far.
Set up a meeting with the parents of the student.
D) Involving the Parents
Call the parents in to discuss what you've observed.
Show current progress
Do not diagnose
Try to work together for the child's sake
Discuss options for help inside/outside classroom.

Differentiate work based on students needs
Behavior checklists
Monitor the student
Safe and welcoming environment
F) Communication
Converse day-to-day with LS/SPED Teachers
Report daily lessons
Work with parents on what they can do at home
Reflect and monitor your spoken instruction to the student
G) Develop the student's IEP
Console with other teachers to develop the student's IEP
Make sure parents and other teachers are aware of the IEP
Try to set goals daily/weekly for the student to access
H) Assessment
After discussing with parents and teachers, reevaluate what the child can do now that you have your IEP in place.
