rotary motion mechanisms
gear mechanisms and cogwheels : are sets of wheels that have teeth called cogs. The cogs fit into the cogs of other wheels sothat they move. N1·Z1 = N2·Z2.
N are the velocities of the wheels Z are the number of teths.
worm gear : this is a screw that moves a helical cogwheel that is set perpendicular to the screw.
Nwheel = Nscrew · Zgrooves/Zwheel
pulleys with belt : consist of two wheels that are a certain distance apart and are connect with a belt and rotate in the same direction.
gear mechanisms with a chain : are two coghwheels with parallel axles that are a certain distance apart. They rotate simultaneously by of a metal chain or a toothed belt stretched over both wheels. N1 · Z1 = N2 · Z2
gear train : more than two gears connected together. The rotary motion of the first wheel drives the second and so on.
N4/N1 = Z1 · Z3/Z2 · Z4
pulley trainswith belts : it´s a system of pulleys or wheels connected with a belt. N are the velocities and D are the diameters of each wheel. N4/N1 = D1 · D3/D2 · D4
friction drives : are made up of two or more wheels that are in contact. The first wheel is called primary drive wheel and the second output wheel, wich moves in the oposite direction. N are the velocities and D are the diameters. D1/D2=N1/N2

pulleys
Movable pulley : is a set of two pulleys, one is fixed and the other can move in a linear direction. F = R/2
compound pulley : is a system of movable and fixed pulleys that are called block and tackle. If we use more pulleys the system is more complex but less effort is need.
fixed pulley : is a wheel that has a groove around lt into which a rope fits It rotates around an axle that is fixed to an immobile surface. F = R

are devices that transmit and convert forces and motion from a driving force or input element to an output element.
