  - - - The more information you can put into your plan, the better. This way you'll leave less to interpretation, and therefore be more likely to accomplish everything you need to.
    - - You want to be able to see yourself making progress, otherwise you'll basically just be treading water.
    - - There's a reason your checklist doesn't just say "do the trip." Take smaller bites to get ready, and it'll be done in no time.
    - - Keep you planning to the things that really matter. If you're planning a Saharan crossing, you don't need to have a plan for frostbite.
    - - Be aware of your deadlines. Don't procrastinate, don't slack on what you need to do.
