acute inflammation of the pharynx

caused by haemolytic streptococci,staphylocci, viruses and bacteria

viruses are the most common causes of infection

group A beta haemolytic streptococci and Neisseria gonorrhoeae have also been identified as cause.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae have also been identified as a cause ,people who are employed or live in dusty environment

clinical manifestations

throat appears red ,and soreness ranges from a slight stratching to a severe pain

dryness of the throat

fever malasia and cough is present

it common in people who have chronic dry cough and habitually use tobacco and alcohol

nursing management

it aimed at health educating the patient

patients are to be taught to hold a handkerchief or tissue over the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing and to discard these hygienically

a god hand wash should be emphasised on patients as the hands are instrumental to transmitting the disease

antibiotics can be used to treat bacterial pharyngitis and these may be taken for the prescribed period

discourage the patient from smoking and refer them to support groups to assist with quitting
