pathophysiology
it a tumour that arises from ependymal,a tissue of the central nervous system
usually in pediatric cases the location is intracranial while in adults it is spinal
the common location of intracranial ependymomas is the forth ventricle ,rarely ependymoma can occur in the pelvic cavity.
signs and symptoms
severe headache
visual loss
vomiting
drowsiness
gait change
treatment
maximum surgical resection followed by radiation
chemotherapy of limited use and reversed for special special cases including young children and those with tumour present after resection.
prophylactic craniospinal irradiation
