Transistor: Is a device that regulates current. A transistor consists of three layers with different kind of electrical charge. It can be used to amplify either current or voltaje.
It has 3 terminals: base(B), collector(C) and emitter(E).
2 of them work as an input and one as an output.

It can be used as a switch because it is a tiny electric current flowing through one part of a transistor can make a much bigger current flow through another part of it. In other words, the small current switches on the larger one.
Diode: It's a two-terminal electronic component that conducts current in one direction and they can be used as signal limiters, voltaje regulators and switches.
