Tuesday:
Today we worked on our rubric, as well as the product plan. As a group, we decided on creating a magazine, with each of us creating an article on a topic related to AI which interests us the most. During the planning of the project, we have applied the ATL skill of effective Communication. Everyone was able to add their ideas (see Mind Map: Project Ideas). This ensured a broad spectrum of variety and tackling the topic of AI from multiple perspectives. However, therefore, it was very difficult to reach a consensus. Ultimately, we decided on creating a magazine, because it was something simple enough to be completed in the given time frame, but also personalized enough so that everyone was happy with the idea. Deciding on a project that was easily executed, demonstrates our use of time management skills.
As a second important event of the day, we also had various debates all relating to the topic of AI. Our group debated the statement: "Autonomous vehicles should be implemented in Germany over the next 10 years." I was on the proposition side. We were given 25 minutes to research for the debate, which was not a lot of time. However, we managed to include statistics and expert opinions, which helped to create reliable arguments. In the rebuttal, this also helped us debunk the Opposition's arguments. In hindsight, I think that the Opposition never really stood a chance, not because they lacked skill, or even explanations, but rather because the implementation of autonomous vehicles is already happening. A lot of people are for it, simply because the pro's seem to outweigh the con's by far, and companies already have the technology complete. they only things which keeps us from autonomous driving are our government and our legal system.
