What I know about democracy by Sacha

What is democracy?

Why do we have laws?

What freedoms are part of our democracy?

What responsibilities are part of our democracy?

How can we get involved in our democracy?

Being able to vote and speak out about our opinions.

Wondering- How do you become a politician?

We can speak out about our opinions.

A democracy is a country or place, that does not have a monarch, dictator and so on. Any can vote and everyone's vote is worth the same. An example of a democracy is Australia and a example of monarchy is the Commonwealth and England which is ruled by queen Elizabeth the second

Wondering - why don't the public get to make the laws?

Wondering - How do you create a law?

All kids have to go to schools

To become a politician you register with the government sign documents , pay money and sign up for a party or become a independent and make sure that you haven't had more the 12 months prison, been bankrupt or have a jewel citizenship.

Because the would be anrchary if the was no laws.

First a bill is drafted in the house of representatives then it is proposed if that wins it goes to to the senate where it is proposed again then if that wins again it goes back to the senate to be voted again if that wins then the bill is sent to the Governor general to be signed and made a law!

Because other wise there would chaos and there would be some strange laws that would be created.....

Being able to choose who you want to run for your electorate

Because you can vote for anyone ,you can choose who you think will best represent your community/self

Any one is aloud to be a run as a candidate which means that you can represent your community
