Other uncontrolled movement
Scars
tracheotomy scars
Wasting/Hypertrophy
– feel for muscle bulk ,Proximal or distal? ☤Symmetrical? ☤Specific muscle group
First assess for increased or decreased tone in all 4 extremities
Check for strength in the following muscles
Legs

Ankle Plantarflexion
Hip Flexors
Ankle Dorisflexion,
Knee Extension,
Knee Flexion
Arms
Deltoids,
Dorsal Interossei
Wrist Flexors,
Wrist Extensors
Triceps,, Biceps,
How to Score Strength
3/5: Can resist gravity, but no additional force
4/5: Some weakness but can still provide force against examiner
2/5: Can move limb across a flat surface, but cannot resist gravity
5/5: Full Strength
1/5: Trace movement, or can see muscle activation but no movement occurs
0/5: No movement noted
