CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASE
DEFINITION
Functional abnormality of the nervous system caused by an interference with the cerebral blood supply, commonly resulting in the patients having cerebrovascular accident or stroke.
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Fat gain access to the arterial walls via the small breaks, and is laid down beneath the tunica intima as fatty streaks.Scar tissue is laid down as result of low grade inflammatory response.The plague enlarges as the above process repeat itself. Necrotic area as well as calcification appears. Clot formation occurs over the surface leading to progressive obliration of the vascular lumen which ultimately narrows and obstruct the affected blood vessel
