Verbally or physically harass others, causing them to report incidents to adult

Redirection Strategies
Focus on teaching and modeling social and emotional learning strategies that encourage reflection and self-awareness. Encourage students to consider how individual actions and words have consequences. Through various modeling opportunities, assist in developing students’ ability to take different perspectives and viewpoints. Teach students to think through situations and/or challenges
Teach problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Take the role of a coach and assist students in a problem-solving process. Teach students and children to identify the problem and brainstorm various solutions and identify the solution he or she will use
Create opportunities to practice effective social skills both individually and in groups. Model effective social skills in the classroom and at home through praise, positive reinforcement and correction and redirection of inappropriate behaviors. Provide role-play scenarios that build social skills
Provide anti-bullying posters that encourage students to step-in when they see a bullying incident.
Start a peer-mentoring program that teaches students to be upstanders not bystanders.
Have students create an anti-bullying video and showcase it for the school.
Teach students to speak up and report bullying, if they do not feel comfortable reporting it in person they can anonymously report it online, or in a note.
Have a school assembly about bullying prevention.
Model desirable behaviors. Teach students to report any bullying incidents, and make sure to take every report seriously.
Hold weekly class meetings, and discuss what is and is not working in the classroom/hallways.
Increase student understanding of bullying by having them expand their social circle.
Have students participate in role-playing to practice appropriate behaviors.
