World Assumptions
Gods are very present but not walking around. Pleasing gods might help and not pleasing might hurt depending on which god.

Everyone has seen magic's effects and knows it's existence, but few magicians abound and are fairly rare.
Races are slightly more common than the standard, but still have rare and very rare races
Racism still exists in the world, but not as much for things that are now more common like half-elves and dwarves etc.
Player Death is to be avoided, but not impotent. Our story could be cut short if player does something dumb. Also recognition that the world might kill you despite what either of us want.
World is EXTREMELY ANCIENT: Not the full extreme, but so much that civilizations may have had more technology that is lost now. Finding ancient technology is possible to change the world. Just not so much that the whole planet has been remade.
