PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
its occurs when there is a failure of the posterior neural tube closure, the failure then disrupt all of the overlying tissues, preventing the vertebral arch from closing.
DEFINITION
its a malformation of the spine in which the posterior portion of lamina of one or more vertebrae fail to develop. its more common in the lumbar and sacral region.
