First Read: Get the Gist
1: The fact that there were presents falling from the sky in the before photo of the mall.
2: Why did it take a year for it to reach their door.
3: Why did they go to america instead of Africa or something it was way closer and that was ok because it said that the war was only in Syria.
Humanitarian: Concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare. Daunting: Seeming difficult to deal with in anticipation; intimidating.
Fransiocs and Cedric are brothers. They lived in a city that at this point was filled with war. They ran away to america.
What started the war in syria. Why did they risk getting in a car.
The main idea of "From War to America" is a little boy and his family have to move because there is a war in there country and they wind up moving to America.
Second Read: Dig a Little Deeper
Sad: It talks about war and a family that has to leave their home that they will never again see their home.
The mood of the article is sympathetic.
I would say that the theme is that you should stick together no matter what happens. I think this because the two brothers in the story stick together through everything.
Embroiled: This word sets a sad tone in the story because the word means to involve deeply in an argument the argument being war the sentence would mean that their state was deeply involved in war.
Persecution: This word sets a sad tone in the story as well because the word means hostile and ill-treatment. The refugees were the one that this was applying to and the reason it has a sad tone is because the two main characters were refugees.
Violence: This word sets a sad tone because if you think about it when little kids are in a war any type of violence at all really is sad.
The author doesn't really show much feeling about the text in the text however I can infer from some of the words she uses that show feeling about what happened. I can infer that she feels a little sympathetic because this story kind of makes me sad.
Third Read: Put it All Together
It relates to others lives because years ago there was an insedent in florda and there were alot of people that fled so that they would be safe.
It relates to my life because one day a few years ago we had to leave our house before we were taken up by a tornado.
It relates to our history book with the World Wars and all of the bombs.
I infer that the two boys wound up getting friends and enjoying there lives. Besides, Francois has so much more to think about. I thought this because this shows an opportunity for him to make friends.
I can infer that Cedric was al ot less happy that Francois. Cedric had a similar experience at his middle school.
I can also infer that his dad will be successful. Their dad will open a barbershop there, like the one he owned back in Syria.
