Plot
Leamus has had several failed missions, the most recent of which ended with Karl Riemeck getting shot as he tried to escape over the German border
Karl fed information from the German government to De Jong and Leamus, eventually expanding his operation. Peters said he couldn't have been operating alone.
Control has a new mission for him, he is to "defect" over to the East-German Intelligence Service, plant some suspicions, and ultimately take out the man leading the intelligence operations, who goes by the name of Mundt
Leamus destroys his reputation, working in banking for awhile, then becoming a drunk and getting fired by the Circus
He finds work in a library, and meets Liz Gold. A member of the party who falls in love with him. He is also attached to her.
He eventually gets in a fight with a grocer, and gets himself thrown in jail.
He eventually comes into contact with a man named Ashe, who puts him in contact with Sam Kiever
Sam offers him money to defect to the German side, and Leamus accepts
He is taken to a man named Peters, who records his story and all the information he has. Leamus plants the suspicion that there is a mole within the ranks of the German Intelligence Service by talking about operation Rolling Stones
Control ensures that this is published in papers, so all of England knows Leamus defected, and he can no longer show his face or return.
