2) Mass spectrometer detects m/z ratio (shows up as highest mass peak on spectrum- molecular ion peak)- equals molecular mass of compound
3) 1.1% of ions have carbon-13 instead of carbon-12 so have Mr 1 greater than M+ ion (shown as small peak to the right of M+ ion peak- known as M+1 peak)

Either side of fragment could become positively charged, it depends on where the positive charge was situated in the molecule when it fragmented
