Types of knives
Cook's knife: for cutting food, e.g meat.
Filleting knife: They have a flexible blade so it is easier to remove the flesh from the bones on fish and meat.
Palette knife: used for lifting food from trays, turning food over or mixing liquid into mixtures.
Serrated edge carving knives: used for slicing foods, e.g bread.
Table knife: used for spreading ingredients, e.g butter or mixing liquid into dry mixtures.

fruit and vegetables
when peeling vegetables and fruit such as carrots, potatoes and apples, a potatoe peeler should be used to reduce food waste.
when cutting fruit and vegetables you should use the bridge and claw grip to protect your fingers from the knife blade.
if fruits and vegetables are to be cooked, they should be cut into the same size pieces so that they can cook evenly.
