The Impact of Media and Technology Integration to a Guidance Counselor

Acquisition of New Skills
With the exposure and utilization of media and technology, I am able to discover and improve my skills in integrating certain apps and software that improves my delivery of my subject matter.
Enhancement of Creativity
Technology allows me to be creative in my work. For example, the website Canva helps me create infographics that I share to my students.
Discovery of New Knowledge
The availability of information resources such as the internet assists me to gain a lot of knowledge about the topics I am researching about. I am able to research about proper ways to do counseling to my students.
Increased Productivity
Laptops, tablets, and other devices allow me to be more productive at work. Which means, I can do more tasks easier and faster. As an example, I use my laptop for work and I use my iPad for school.
Effective Communication
Technology has been really effective to communication. Apps such as Facebook Messenger, Gmail and Viber help me to reach to my family members, friends, colleagues, classmates, students, and professors.
More Efficient Collaboration
I can work with my colleagues and students even outside the school. Applications such as Schoology and Edmodo allow us to do and submit our school assignments online for Graduate school.
Resourcefulness
Media and technology offers a wide range of information that we can get as an aid in our teaching and/or work. The website Youtube and Pinterest provides several information and videos of counseling techniques that I can use for me to understand them better and apply them to my students.
Enhancement of Data Presentation
Media and technology gives us several platforms where we can present data and information better. In my work, I always use Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel to deliver reports.
Data Accessibility
Technology helps us to gain access to our files and documents easier, anytime and anywhere. Google Drive is a big help for me. I can edit my documents there even though I am at work or at school.
Active Student Engagement
With the integration of media and technology, we can let our students be more engaged and active in the class. Educational apps and software like Quizlet and Padlet catch their attention which would make them be more interested to participate and learn.
