Current Recommendations
no restrictions unless complex pregnancy
don't exercise to fatigue
don't lay on back in third trimester
minimal pelvic flexibility exercises - SIJ already lax
Slowly return to exercise after giving birth. No running for first 6 - 8 weeks
do NOT exercise to fatigue
Exercise for the Uncomplicated Pregnancy

pilates
pelvic floor/TrA exercises
yoga
continue until third trimester
Phyisological Response of Exercise
increases foetal blood flow
reduces risk of complications including pre-eclampsia
reduces foetal heart rate slightly
pelvic floor activation
Exercise for the complicated Pregnancy (inc conditions)
in line with what obsetrician recommends
generally minimal exercise that will place pressure on cervix
do NOT exercise to fatigue. Certain heart rate required
