1837 Horace Mann:Whig Party-State board of education (Goldstein, pg.23).
1840 Mann opened 3 normal school for female teachers to be trained at (Goldstein, pg. 25).

Personal connection: We still have too few male teachers. I am in a middle school and I feel that we need more male teachers especially for this age.
