APA example
After sleep deprivation, the 36 participants performed better in an attention span task when they have had a 10-min nap mid-day (M = 12.75, SD = 5.13) as compared to when they had no nap (M = 11.92, SD = 4.09). However, a paired samples t-test revealed that this difference is not statistically significant, t(35) = -2.00, p = .53 (two-tailed), d = -0.42.
Hence, we fail to reject the null hypothesis that attention span after sleep deprivation differed for those who had a nap and those who did not.
