abdominal examination to detect inflammation
CT scan or ultrasound
blood test to see increased in WBC
urine testing to rule out UTI
Do bound tenderness examination

keep NPO since patient is for appendectomy
IV drip to hydrate the patient
after procedure advice to limit physical activity
advices patient on diet changes and lifestyle changes
monitor vital signs before and after surgery
pathophysiology
appendix has lymphoid tissue
wall of defence become overwhelmed
swelling and lumen obstruction of the appendix
subsequent proliferation of bacteria and viruses
infection would then take place
treatment
appendectomy is the standard treatment
drain abscess of pus and fluids if appendix is ruptured
administration of antibiotics e.g.metronidazole
administer analgesia e.g. morphine
