Mumbai
Poverty/slums
Solution 1 - The government creates a huge apartment complex to hold a majority of these people, and the people don't have to pay for it, so they can focus more on their jobs and not on worrying about safety and conditions.
Solution 2 - The government gives people jobs. There is an article on Follett Destiny that is about how Mumbai's government is contacting companies and getting underprivileged people jobs. This way people can earn for themselves.
Dharavi, one of the world's largest slums, is in Mumbai, with a population of over a million people. These people live in terrible conditions and face extreme poverty. They need better homes, better access to water and higher paying jobs.
Flooding
In June, July and August, it's monsoon in Mumbai, and it rains almost constantly for those months. It rains so heavily that it floods the city. The drainage system is not good, so it stays like that until the water evaporates.
Solution 1 - This solution is quite obvious. We could simply create an advanced drainage system throughout the city where water gets collected.
Solution 2 - This is an addition to the first one. We could have a system where the water that is collected gets transferred to an area where there are trees and plants so that they can be watered.
Transportation
The issue is, the trains and buses are crowded. A lot of people rely on them and there aren't enough to support the large population. Another issue is that all the transportation is above ground, which means that it takes up space.
Solution 1 - This solution is very basic; we just have to create more buses and trains to go on the same routes, and make them go more often.
Solution 2 - New metro lines are already being built, but they are being built above ground. To save space, I think they should have some of it be underground.
Pollution
Since the population of Mumbai is a lot, there are many cars on the roads. Because of that, there is a lot of pollution and harmful emissions in the air.
Solution 1 - On every road, there should be air purifiers. I don't know if those exist yet, but they could be things that take in pollution and release fresh oxygen into the air.
Solution 2 - Check the levels of emissions from each car, and the highest half will have to turn their car into an electric car. Electric cars don't run on fuel; they run on electricity, which is why they don't release any harmful emissions.
Population
Mumbai is really populated, with a population of over 18 million people. This causes a lot of issues like less housing and crowding.
Solution 1 - Ask people to volunteer to send them to another city in the world. If not enough people volunteer, create opportunities for people in the different cities and send them.
Solution 2 - Just like Dubai, Mumbai can create islands where people can move to.
