What is poverty?
For many people, poverty is not a choice. many people are simply born into poverty people are born into poverty. There are many different types of poverty which are explained in the category, types of poverty.
the merriam webster dictinary defines poverty as the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. but poverty can be so much more than that.

Types of poverty
Absolute Poverty
Involves scarcity of certain resources such as water, food, shelter, money, etc.
examples
No access to school or doctor
often occurs in 3rd world countries
very little money
Relative Poverty
Refers to economic status of families whose income does not meet their living needs
examples
Not able to pay rent
not enough money for food
not enough money for transportation
Generational Poverty
Occurs in families in which at least two generations have been born into poverty
examples
divorce
health problems
addiction problems
Urban Poverty
Involves overcrowding in cities, noise, violence
Examples:
poor sanitation conditions
no clean water
not enough space
Situational Poverty
Caused by sudden crisis or loss, often temporary
Examples:
Haiti Earthquake
House burns down
other natural disasters
Rural Poverty
Occurs in rural areas with low populations in which people do not have access to resources
EXamples:
mostly minorities
live in rural areas
lacks education and sanitation
