pathophysilogy
Usually inflammatory response to an infection leads to structural damage within the bronchial walls, which causes dilatation. Scarring, which arises as a consequence of the immune response, reduces the number of cilia within the bronchi. This predisposes the individual to further infections

pathophsiology
Toxic smoke or dust travels to the alveoli causing oxidative damage that causes inflammation, cytokines is released due to inflammation reducing elasticity in the alveolar walls, continuous smoking damages alveoli and the cavity known as Bellea are formed preventing lungs from exchanging oxygen and carbondioxide the tidal volume of lungs is decreased
