convicted criminals should not have the right to vote.
Introduction
A. Criminals and thier right to vote is a very big topic. As Bernie sanders says "I think the right to vote is inherent to our democracy, even for terrible poeple."
B. many think that they should not vote becuase of their backround. But there is a lot more that goes into voting rights.
C. Here are three key details about the voting rights of criminals.
The three main points
they will effect the well being of everyone else
they have commited a crime against our countries laws
That they don't have the sense to make good choices.
Essay body
Paragraph 1.
The first reason people shouldn't vote is because they have commited a crime against our countires laws
But everyone has the right to vote. right? Which is because you are a U.S citizen.
But commiting a crime against a country shows that you don't care about the outcome and law as much. Then you have chosen not to be a part of the countries people.
From an article from NIJ (National institute Justice) it states that "Within three years of release, about two-thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested."
This shows that the majority of criminals go their way back to jail. But they can earn your way back to voting. By just having a clear backround for over 5 years.
Overall criminals who have commited a crime should not be able to vote. Unless after the fact that they have had a good backround for over 5 years they can vote again.
paragraph 2.
Second reason is voting affects both people and the enviornment.
So if criminals are able to vote then that probably will have a negative impact on the outcome.
It may be easy to say that there is few criminals that vote, but this could be the difference between good to bad.
But in the NCSL website it sys "Most people gets back their voting rights after completing their sentence.
this just shows that the during peoples sentence it is not good for them to vote. After their sentence they have went through the whole process and now are able to vote.
6.In the end it is not all that bad to lose your voting rights during your sentnece, it is just for the safety of others.
paragraph 3.
Third reason why is that they don't have the mindset of thinking about making good choices as much.
Although they may be thinking about it they will more fully understand about it until their end of their sentence.
People who have commited crimes often think about the bad things and not good.
In ProCon.org it explains "They say that convicted felons have demonstrated poor judgment and should not be trusted with a vote."
The criminals action has made a rection to ban them from voting. Just because their trust was lost to follow the governments rules.
So just because of poor judment they lose their trust and ability to vote.
conclusion
Being a person who commited a crime should lose their right to vote because of comitting a crime, how voting affects others, and the persons judgement.
Voting is a big deal to how things are in the U.S.
So be a citizen and stand up for what is best for your country and its safety.
