IBRAHIM

rebuilt the Ka'aba (originally built by Adam, but destroyed in flood); Muslims remember this on the Hajj
Was told by God to sacrifice his son and prepared to do so. God stopped him just before he did - he had passed the test.

There have been 124,000 prophets, Muhammed being last
-
ADAM
-
Angels had to bow down in front of him. Iblis (Satan) refused, was expelled from paradise and vowed to tempt humans into sin from thereon.
God created Hawwa (Eva) as company for Adam. They lived in the garden of Bliss. They ate the forbidden fruit, were expelled from the garden + brought sin into world.
God forgave Adam; Adam became 1st prophet. He passed on how to live a god life in obedience to God to the rest of humankind.
MUHAMMAD
-
In 610CE and over next 22 years, received final revelations of Islam from God through Jibril, recorded in Qur'an.
After 1st revelation challenged people in Makkah to follow Islam, was persecuted, fled to Madinah with his followers, eventually conquered Makkah + converted it to Islam. This established Islam firmly as a religion.
The night journey: Before he fled to Madinah, was taken on a miraculous journey to Jerusalem and heaven, where he spoke to prophets and agreed with God that Muslims should pray 5 times a day. Sunnis still follow this practise.
