19 August: Fuhrer
Hindenburg dies in 1934. Hitler declares himself: Head of army, Chancellor and President. The government becomes totalitarian - Hitler has control over all aspects of people's lives.
Military oath
1934 - Hitler made the army take on oath of loyalty - the arm swore to obey him directly rather than Germany

June: The Concordat
Hitler makes a deal with the pope. He accepts to let the pope have his catholic schools instead of attending Hitler Youth - As long as the pope does not send bad propaganda out about what Hitler is doing.
April: The Gestapo
Hitler set up the Gestapo. A group aimed to arrest anyone disloyal. They were spies who did Hitler's dirty work - Sent to Jews to camps etc.
23 March: Enabling act
This even allowed Hitler to pass on new laws whenever he liked (without the Reichstag's . approval) for 4 years.
March: Elections
44% of the population voted for the Nazis. Hitler was furious as he needed 66% to gain access to the Enabling act.
Hitler managed this later on by intimidating non-supporters. Or not letting communists enter the building to vote.

Concentration camps were set up to 'politically re-educate' Nazi opponents and anyone Hitler saw unfit to be an Aryan // did not fit Aryan standards

They could arrest, kidnap or kill anyone without a trial and send anyone to CC camps

Law Court: Hitler forced every judge to become part of the Nazis or they would die. Those who agreed did everything Hitler commanded -- Imprisoned / sentenced anyone
Censorship: If the Germans were to live under Nazi beliefs, they had to 'read / hear' the correct message
The only radios were radios who could not pick up foreign stations. They were all in the Reich Radio Company
Art and books which went against Nazi beliefs were destroyed - Book Burning of 1933.
All writers, actors and musicians had to join the Reich chamber of commerce.
Newspapers against Nazi beliefs were shutdown.
All journalists, editors... had to be part of the Reich press.

- Movies such as 'The Eternal Jew' were played in Cinemas.
The Berlin olympics of 1936 : Hitler saw the event as an opportunity to demonstrate power and unity in the 'new, stable Germany'
