Metabolism (Two)
Negative Energy Balance
- Glucose is needed for some of the brain/RBC/nerves
- Protein can meet glucose needs
- Glucose from Glycerol and AA (GNG): AA that makes Pyruvate can be used to make glucose
- Shift to Ketosis: Ketones are produced if glucose is not available (Suppression of Appetite)
- Low BGL → This signals the breakdown fats and muscles

Positive Energy Balance
-
- Excess Carbs: is converted to fat, but its priority is glycogen stores
- Excess Protein: is converted to fat, but its priority is other roles
