8 Line stanzas, rigid structure. Structure as it is to represent the rigid way in which you should live life.

The Author uses a lot of assonance to make the poem seem interesting and helps to make the point last in someones mind. Therefore it is a message also to the son for it to last a long time in his memory.
'Hold On!' This point emphasises the message to keep going and the use of the exclamation mark emphasises his point.
'You'll be a man, My son!' This last sentence shows that if he does all of his messages he will be perfect and he will have the world to himself. He will make his dad proud, he shows this by using the exclamation mark after the word 'Son'
