CHARACTERISTICS OF WALDORF EDUCATION
Theory of child development
Using the arts to develop a childs abilities to the best they can be. (Easton,1997:88)
Waldorf education concentrates on building a child and building experiences to beable to make good choices and decisions. (Easton,1997:88)
Teacher self-development
A teacher stays with the same class from the beginning(grR) upto gr8. To provide closeness with the teacher and for the teacher to help shape the student. The teacher gets to know the student and their capabilities and their expectations change accordingly.(Easton,1997:89)
The teacher needs to keep up with the students changing and there needs changing continuosly.(Easton,1997:89)
Core curriculum
A curriculum that includes different art choices in all respective subjects.

It adds on the past knowledge and experience every year. They learn the same thing but just more of it.(Easton,1997:89)
Method of teaching arts
Using nature to help the child reach their utmost potential.(Easton,1997:90)

Intergrationof teaching and administration
Administration is done and shared by all teachers.(Easton,1997:91)
There is a selection of:
A head teacher who takes up the main teaching role. This teacher is responsible for the main lessons.
Administrative head, is elected and responsibile to make sure all administrative work gets done.(Easton,1997:91)
The school as a learning community
Teachers have a mission to achieve, a building of a community that is willing to help teach students of freedom and respinsibilities that they may have.(Easton,1997:91)
The teacher designs the curriculum according to the needs of the children.(Easton,1997:91)
Conferences are held where different speakers talk about different ways and their experiences to help other teachers realise their own growth and potential on class.(Easton,1997:91)
