Leukemia is cancer of the body’s blood-forming tissue, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system. The bone marrow produces abnormal white blood cells, which don’t function properly.
causes
The exact cause of leukemia is really not known. It seem to develop from a combination of genetic and environment
pathophysiology
There is efficient regulation of cell proliferation and maturation in the normal bone marrow. These regulatory mechanisms ensure that the normal production of cell to meet the body’s needs. In leukemia, the regulatory mechanism are disrupted leading to uncontrolled proliferation of leukocytes. The normal bone marrow is replaced by blast cells which released into the circulation and are not able to perfume the phagocytic function of mature cells. The circulation abnormal and immature leukocytes also infiltrate blood-forming organ and other sites in the body.
