statistical questions
-
You often solve statistical questions by changing a non statistical question into a statistical question.
Statistical questions are when the answers are percents, rages, or averages of more than one person doing something. Statistical questions often have numbers.
three M´s
median
Median is mainly used for when you are trying to find the middle of higher numbers. You find the median by putting the numbers in order from least to greatest, and cancel the least one out, then the highest one out. You keep going until you get to the middle. The middle number is your median but if there is two numbers, you find the median of those.
Example: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 3 is the median.
mode
The mode is the most popular. It is the number that appears most frequently in a set of numbers. How to find it you see what numbers pop up alot. They are there multiple times.

Range
-
you have the highest and the lowest number then you subtract the highest number form the lowest number.
-
Box Plots
example: 1,3,5, 7, 9 you would make a numberline for the numbers; 1-10.
-
You can find them by the first, median, third, and fourth quartile. The whiskers are the lowest and higest number. You make a number line that has the numbers and place the box plot in.
line plot
-
you draw a number line that contains the range of data you are storing, and on each number put a x on top and count how many you have left.
