- - - - He systematically removed all of the Yorkist claiments. He married Elizabeth of York, inprisoned the Earl of Warwick and had Richard de la Pole executed after he feld England after being accused of treason.
      - Henry used marriage to make peace too. He married Elizabeth of York to end the war of the roses. he married off his daughter to James IV and his son to the Spanish Queen Catherine of Aragon to secure peace.
      - Henry also used political intrigue to make deals with foreign supporters of rebellions like Perkin Warbeck for example the traty of Windsor and the Treaty of Etaples
      - He also showed mercy to a number a noble families who proved themselves loyal like the Earl of Northumberland in the Battle of Stoke
      - Henry consistantly pardoned people invovled in rebellions. This prevented disgruntled rebel families joining forces against Henry.
    - - Although the nobles were powerful only a few ever rebelled which meant they were dramatically outnumbered against nobles loyal to Henry. (Usually had support from only 1 individual)
      - They were poorly organised either because the were organised abroad or organised by a few nobles
      - The rebellions often lacked legitimate leaders most of them being pretenders eg. Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck.
      - Perkin Warbeck only failed to rally support against Henry in England so didn't have a very large force to fight against Henry at the battle of Stoke.
      - The Stafford Lovell rebellion had no Yorkist claiment to rally behind so did not gain support from the Yorkshire
    - - He went on royal progress in 1486 after his corination to listen to the problems of the people to appear as though he was a king that listened and helped the people
      - Instead of ignoring the rebels in cornwall he listened and sought peace with Scotland instead of war appeasing the public and preventing any further rebellions
      - Instead of acting on his own infomation he used his spy network to collect accurate infomation on all of his challengers.
      - He negotiated with forgein powers he had war goals against (France and Scotland)
      - Henry had to improvise when Stanley betrayed him
      - He kept certain traitors alive like Lambert Simnel
      - He appointed his closest friends in postions of power in all over the country to ensure maxium security especially in the North
