Utilizing a nurse driven foley removal protocol intervention
to identify in proper utilization of indwelling catheter.
Utilization of this intervention would also identify patients that could have an indwelling removed based on clinical condition.

If a patient has an indwelling catheter provide catheter care as needed, monitor CBC, vital signs.

Implement hospital policy that eliminates the utilization of indwelling catheter for strict I & O unless within a ICU setting.

Provide education to staff regarding the significance of utilizing aseptic technique when inserting indwelling catheter. Annual competency should be considered to ensure that staff is competent in placing indwelling urinary catheter

in an hospital setting should be evaluating utilization of foley catheters daily and encouraging staff to remove as long
as clinically appropriate.
Assess patient's level of orientation, assess history of urinary obstruction or other causes that would require utilization of indwelling urinary catheter
