Line Plots
a line plot is a grafical display of data along a number line with the xs or dots, to show the data
I.Q.R.
To get the I.Q.R you subtract the lower and upper quartile.
Central Tendency
Mode
1 3 4 5 3 1 1 1 3 6 8 9 1 2 6 The mode would be 1. :
The mean is the best measure of central tendency when the data are roughly symmetric and have no outliers, or when there are outliers, but you want them to be included
Order them from least to greatest, then you find the number that shows up the most. If there are 2 numbers that show up the most then you have to numbers that are your mode.
Median
103846585937546 the median is 8. If there are 2 medians you would add them together then divide by 2.
You would use when you are trying to find the average of your test grades.
The median is the middle of a bunch of numbers.
Mean
175924864 The mean would have been 46 divided by 9 which equals 5.1.
You would use it when you are looking for a way to find the average.
The mean is when you add them together and then divide the total by how many numbers that were there.
Range
2,3,5,6,6,7,8,10,11,16,17, and 18. Then you would subtract 2 from 18. Lastly the answer would be 16.
First you have to put the numbers in order, then you find the range by subtracting the greatest and smallest number.
Box plots
At the ends of the box plot, are the lower and upper qurtiles .
The Median is marked by a vertical line inside the middle of the box plot.
The "Whiskers" are the two lines outside the box that extend to the highest and lowest observations.
Box Plots are used to determine the Mean, Median, and Mode of a line plot.
Histograms
A histogram is a type of graph that has wide range of numbers put out on a chart or graph.
Statistical Question
Ex. How many ages of kids are in the fast food place?
A statistical question is a question that can be answered using data that may have many answers.
