WK5: MIXED-DESIGN ANOVA
Terms
-
Randomisation (allocate participants to treatment group randomly - equal chance of being selected easy to implement)
-
Random Sampling (Each case in population have equal chance of being selected into the study) - :!: RS assumption usually not fulfilled
-
-
Guidelines to Note
Rule for Familywise Error Rate (IV max 3 lvls = 3 follow up, no increase of FE)
It's Covariance assumption, not correlation (sphericity)
Use Cohen's d / Partial eta-squared to determine magnitude difference between means (interaction etc).
-
Mixed-Design ANOVA
-
-
2 or more IVs (between, within subject design)
FAMILYWISE ERROR RATE
-
:star: Rule: If the design contains IV with maximum level of 3 = allowed to conduct 3 (2x2) follow up analysis WITHOUT increasing family error
-
-
Interaction can disappear, as you realise follow-up analysis shows that control dropped as much as treatment group.
