Infant mortality rate:

The decline in infant mortality rate:
In 1900, the infant mortality for the UK was 154 (15% of all births). This figure began to decrease during the first half of the 20th century due to several reasons
The reasons:
Improved housing and sanitation
Better nutrition
Greater knowledge of hygiene, health and welfare
Improved services for mothers and children EG: postnatal clinics
Heightened general awareness and the breaking down of taboos
Mass immunisation since the 1950's
By the 1950's the UK's infant mortality rate had fallen to 30 and by 2007 this fell further to 5.
