Brick and Concrete Masonry
Similarities
Both are environmentally friendly
Both contain Lime for adhesion
Both include adequate soundproofing
Both used as structural material
Both materials have a limited amount of colours and textures available
Both have great thermal and acoustic performance
Very durable materials
Both rough in texture
Differences
Concrete compressive strength is between 3000 to 4000 PSI
Brick compressive strength is between 8000 to 10000 PSI
Process of manufacturing each material
Thermal mass between each material, brick can absorb heat unlike concrete
Difficult to maintain concrete unlike brick has cleaning acids to make this relatively easy.
Overtime clay brick expands, unlike concrete shrinks
Concrete is slightly cheaper than clay brick
Concrete can be made onsite unlike brick has to be made and then delivered.
Clay brick is aesthetically pleasing while concrete is stronger but not as aesthetically pleasing.
