In the 1960s, MIT was told to develop a computer which could be used by multiple people, and later J. C. R. Licklider introduced the idea of a computer network and developed ARPANET to connect people around the globe. In the 1990s, ‘Virtualization’ increased and more services came into play, like Salesforce and VMware. Prof. Ramnath Chellappa defined ‘Cloud Computing’ in 1997, and it has developed more since then to more mainstream services like iCloud, Drive, and Amazon Web Services, with more than 3.5 billion consumers.
