Was the heir to rich estates acquired by his grandfather. Shelley was educated at Syon House Academy and later on to Eton where he was bullied both physically and mentally during his early years. summary
poem speaks of a traveler who talked about a king in ancient Egypt. The king used to abuse his power and mistreat his people and before he died he ordered his people to build him a statue. after he died his people destroyed his statue and his kingdom because they hated him. now his statue that is broken and nothing left just the head and the legs is lying there in the middle of the desert
relevance on modern day
Nowadays, terrorists desire to strike fear into the hearts of the mighty and everyday citizens. Thus terrorists plan a work of destruction, such as a bombing, for the purpose of bringing glory to their cause by causing death and terror. Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem "Ozymandias" teaches the modern society that bringing fear and destruction won't gain anyone anything in the end and will only pave your way to destruction for his character "Ozymandias" proved it when he died and everyone destroyed his statue and mocked him for his cruelty and crudeness telling our younger generations to not turn to being merciless and evil just to be feared and recognized
