HEALTH BEHAVIOR
Any activity people perform to maintain or improve their health, regardless of their perceived health status or whether the behavior actually achieves that goal
WELL BEHAVIOR
is any activity people undertake to maintain or improve current good health and avoid illness
Example: exercising, eating healthful diets, having regular dental checkups, and getting vaccinations
SYMPTOMS BASED BEHAVIOR
any activity people who are ill undertake to determine the problem and find a remedy
Example: complaining about symptoms (stomach pains) and seeking help or advice from relatives, and medical practitioners.
SICK ROLE BEHAVIOR
any activity people carry out to get well after deciding that they are ill and what the illness is
sick people take on a special ‘‘role,’’ making them exempt from their normal obligations and life tasks

Cholesterol is the main culprit in this disease.

Cholesterol carried by HDL is called ‘‘good cholesterol’’ because it carry LDL away to be processed or removed by the liver.
Cholesterol carried by LDL is called ‘‘bad cholesterol’’ cause it mixes with other substances to form plaques.

32% of eighth graders claimed they had a drink in the past year.
High school and college students still buy and drink alcohol without parental supervision.
Large numbers of problem drinkers come from the higher classes and hold high-status jobs.
PROBLEM IN DRINKING
Heavy Drinking or Binge drinking:
consuming five or more drinks on a single occasion at least once in a 30-day period.
Heavy use drinking:
involves binge drinking five or more times in a month.
People who abuse alcohol or problem drinkers:
drink heavily on a regular basis and suffer social and occupational impairments from it.
Alcoholics:
Alcohol abuser are physically depended on it
SMOKING
Smoking reduces people’s life expectancy by several years and impairs their quality of life in old age, and these effects worsen with heavier smoking.
Exposed to the risk of dying of lung cancer or heart disease.
If the smoker quit, he can improve his body condition about 15 years becoming similar to those of people who never smoked.
