Was the first social reform movement
Spread awareness of protestant religions around the united states
Had records in African American churchgoers
Inspired the abolitionist movements
Camp meetings allowed people to socialize and trade with each other

Mental Illness/Disabled Reform
People with mental illnesses were sent to the asylum and treated like wild animals
Treatment was thought to be helpful, but worsened their condition
Asylums were funded and the treatment changed

The Second Great Awakening led to people realizing that slavery went against the views of the Christian religion
Slavery was an unjust practice, and many Christian slaveowners began to realize their wrongdoing
The Underground Railroad led enslaved people to freedom and was run/maintained by people of all races
The Anti-Slavery Society was founded by whites and free people of color and led peaceful protests, public speeches/sermons, and marches.

if a woman were to work outside the house itd be unacceptable
Worker's Rights/ Labor Movement
