- - - - This is a national mentor program that provides one-on-one support to individuals and the families of those living with type 1 diabetes, including toddlers and school-aged children
      - Consists of trained volunteers that understand the challenges associated with living with type 1 diabetes and are able to provide emotional support
      - These volunteers also connect individuals and/or their families with resources and support networks in their local area
    - - A "goodie" bag filled with resources for both the young child diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as well as important information for their families/caregivers about the disease
      - Being diagnosed can be a stressful and scary time, this program aims to ease the transition
      - Along with useful resources, the bag includes a stuffed bear, "Rufus" to show that the child is not alone when they are learning to take their blood sugar and insulin injections
  - - - Being able to recognize the signs and symptoms of diabetes
      - Helpful diabetes friendly recipes
      - Ways to prevent complications
      - Tools and resources available broken down into different categories such as heart health, children and adults, physical activity etc.
      - Specific section for teens and children living with diabetes, how to talk to them about the disease, diet, and common questions etc.
- - - - A program that provides financial assistance/funding for insulin pumps and diabetic supplies
    - - Must be an Ontario resident
      - Must have a valid health card
      - Not receiving additional support from Workplace Safety or Veteran affairs for diabetic supplies
    - - This program helps cover the cost of an insulin pump and other supplies for those living with Type 1 diabetes in Ontario. More specifically, those who have not had success with multiple daily insulin injections and are looking to switch to a pump
      - 100% of the price of the insulin pump is covered
      - $2400/ year for additional supplies that are used with the pump, paid in $600 installments
    - - Need to be examined by members of the Diabetes Education Program (healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, or nurse practitioners) who will deem if the insulin pump is appropriate for you
      - Fill out necessary paperwork (ie. Adult form vs. child form) and mail it to the program address
