Jack is Evil
Harm
-
Jack begins by hunting animals. At first for food, but then he devolves into killing for pleasure and to boost his ego.
"I was going to!... Next time--!" (page 31) This shows that Jack was embarrassed because he didn't kill the pig the first time. Now he feels that he has to, to prove that he can.
This shows the id because Jack is doing what he wants in the moment and not thinking about the consequences.
Choice
Jack chose to hunt instead of watching the fire, which caused it to go out. This eliminated the boys' chances of getting rescued and shows that Jack didn't care about their society anymore, only what he wanted.
This is an example of Jack's id because he chooses to do what he wants rather than what is best for everyone.
"We can light the fire again. You should have been there with us, Ralph... I cut the pig's throat." (page 69)
Jack calls Piggy names when Piggy is trying to speak with the conch. Jack chose to ignore their symbol of power which shows that he has no regards for the rules of their civilization.

Knowledge
Jack encouraged the kids to start the chant. By doing this he knew that the kids would get riled up. This led to Simon's death.
-
This shows the id because Jack wanted to take part in a violent ritual and he encouraged everyone to do it with him.
Jack put the head of the pig on the stick as an offering to the beast. This was extremely violent and he knew that it wasn't necessary. He created a symbol for the evil that was inside of all of them.
